Tips to Become Successful at a Direct Home Sales

The allure of direct home sales opportunities like Avon, Mary Kay, Lularoe, and many more, entices mothers and fathers alike to sign on and work for themselves to make money. Raising a family is no easy task, and these programs allow consultants to create their own schedule and maximize the time spent with their kids and spouse.

While it may seem like the products will sell themselves, you will need to put in many hours of planning into the business to generate profit and really see financial security. It can certainly take time to do this, but there are also many consultants that see success with direct sales in no time at all.

Be able to stand by the product

If you don’t use the product, or worse, don’t like the product, it’s going to make it difficult for you to sell it effectively. Make sure to try what the company has and be able to stand behind it. This means you should not only be testing out and trying on products but be familiar with the business’ objectives and mission. Make sure this is a company you don’t mind putting your name next to, and that will certainly lend a hand at selling it to your customers.

Find a way to stand out

Unless it’s a brand new direct sales business, chances are, there are thousands of people currently trying to sell the products, possibly even thousands in your area if you live in a heavily populated city. At this time, there are currently over 77,000 Lularoe consultants nationwide, so standing out against a large number of salespeople is going to be a major priority. Figure out what offers and programs you can give potential customers that are going to make them keep coming to you specifically, instead of shopping around with other consultants. These could be rewards programs or unique giveaway events, or anything else that will help you stand out.

Network, network, network

You might have a slew of relatives and friends that are interested in the product, but you can’t just rely on them to place orders if you want to gain financial freedom. Talk to people you know to let them know you’re selling products and they can help by spreading the news to their coworkers and friends. Social media has helped consultants tremendously with reaching new groups of people from across the country, rather than in the local neighborhood. Spread the word to as many people as you can, all the while providing excellent customer service to each one.

Make appointments

Selling through Facebook live will garner some success, but making one-on-one appointments will allow you to provide excellent service to your customers and keep them interested. It’s very easy to click out of Facebook, but the face to face appointments allows customers to ask questions directly to you in a comfortable environment, so they’re more likely to buy from you.

Keep up with customers

Getting the customers interested in you is only half of the battle, keeping them coming back to you is the other part. Come up with a system that works for you to check in with your customers often, but not too often, so they keep you in their mind but aren’t annoyed by your attempts to contact them.
